Write the World

Nandita Dinesh is an alumna of UWC Mahindra College and has taught at the UWCs in India, Armenia, & USA. This short course emerges from her book Creative Writing and the Experiences of Others.

Designed for participants who are 18 and older, each session will explore a unique strategy that participants can use to engage — ethically, responsibly, and humbly — with current events.

    • You will be invited to write in any language you are comfortable in.

    • You will not be asked to share drafts during the session, however, you will be requested to share your writing on a shared document before the next meeting (with an English translation from the most effective online service for your language).

    • Between sessions, all participants will be invited to engage with each other an online course hub, so that conversations can be ongoing.

  • Absolutely not! Writing is simply the method we will use to reflect on the news and current events.

  • The cost for each participant is USD 50, as a yearly subscription to Nandita’s Grey Zones Substack.

For existing paid subscribers on Substack:

    • If we are able to invite you for the UWC Short Course version of Write the World, you will not need to pay again — your existing subscription covers this cost.

    • Since the requirements for this course are more intensive than the monthly gatherings, you are still requested to apply using the link below and to answer the questions in the application form.

    • The content will be the same as the Write the World monthly workshops that are held between January and July 2025. What makes this experience different is the packing of our meetings, the expectations for attendance & engagement, and the new people you will get to meet.
