This workshop series emerges from Nandita’s book Creative Writing and the Experiences of Others. Each session will explore one unique strategy that participants can use to engage — ethically, responsibly, and humbly — with experiences outside their own.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • While the workshops at San Francisco Public Library are only for adults who are 18 and over, you are welcome to join our monthly, virtual, writing workshops.

  • Absolutely not! Writing is simply the method we will use to reflect on the news and current events. Participants will also be welcome to write in a language of their preference, not only English.

  • The workshop is participatory: you will be given prompts from which to create your own writing and to engage with the work of others in the room.

    You are welcome to bring your own writing device (analog or digital) and/or use the paper and pens that will be made available at the session.

  • YES! You can attend all six sessions or just one. Each workshop can be experienced independently, though they also complement one another if attended as a series. 

  • Thanks to San Francisco Public Library’s summer programming, all these sessions are free of cost to participants!
